Jack Harlow, Chloë, Maggie Rogers, and More Best New Music

Our favorite day of the week has finally arrived. Happy New Music Friday! A good number of highly-anticipated releases make their way onto this week’s playlist, like Jack Harlow’s “First Class,” Chloë’s “Treat Me,” and Maggie Rogers’ epic return with new song “That’s Where I Am.”

Leading this week’s NMF is “First Class,” which has already gone viral from a barely-15-seconds-long teaser the rapper shared on TikTok. “First Class” is already an irresistibly catchy contender for song of the summer, thanks largely in part to its sample of Fergie’s 2006 smash hit “Glamorous.” TikTok user @themorivita posted a video sharing their excitement for the new track, writing, “I can’t believe ‘Glamorous’ sampled could be this good,” calling it the “#HarlowEffect.” The Harlow Effect, indeed! A follow up to February’s “Nail Tech,” “First Class” is the second single to be released from Harlow’s upcoming sophomore album Come Home the Kids Miss You, expected May 6.

This week also sees new drops from Omar Apollo, BIA & J. Cole, Doechii, Lauv, and ericodoa. Well, let’s get to it!

I, too, would like Jack Harlow to put me in first class.

The full version of “First Class” has finally arrived, and Harlow continues to win over listeners with his charming duality: effortlessly showcased as the rapper goes from a risqué line about pineapple juice to praising UPS and delivery personnel seven bars later. It’s the Harlow-and-Fergie combo on the chorus that makes the song what it is, but with standout bars like, “You don’t need Givenchy / You need Jesus,” and the ultimate White Boy of the Month crossover. “Can’t lie, I’m on Angus, Cloud 9,” there’s one thing for sure — Jack Harlow knows how to make a hit.
