After being unlucky in love on the hit dating show, it looks like Matthew’s romantic life has turned around after meeting professional partner Laura.
The reality star graciously spoke of being “so very grateful to the show” after leaving as he revealed his buzzing new romance with dancer Laura had been going on for two months now.
He said: “We’re dating. She’s my ‘secret girlfriend’! We’ve been dating for the past month or two, and it’s all good.”
Matthew added to the Belfast Telegraph: “We’re going travelling together to California, where I lived for two years, for a bit. Then we’re heading to my sister’s wedding in Florida.”
Of their connection, Laura said that “it just happened so naturally”, which might not come as a surprise to Dancing with the Stars viewers who spotted their chemistry on the dance floor throughout their time on the series.
Matthew had mentioned that he had been dating a special someone earlier on during his time on the show — however he did not reveal the identity of the woman, keeping his romance a mystery.
The former Love Island contestant told Sunday World that he wanted to keep his love life “relatively private” while he could after it had become so public following his stint on the ITV reality show last year.
Since then though, it has appeared that Matthew hasn’t kept quiet on his fond feelings for partner Laura as he continued to speak of their close relationship just before exiting Dancing with the Stars.
“The aspect of how well you get on with your partner is a big factor,” Matthew told RSVP Live.
“If I didn’t get on well with Laura I would struggle with this whole process. It is so intense in the sense that you are getting feedback every week and you are working around the clock.
“It takes over your entire life. If you didn’t get on with the person you are with or enjoy their company then it wouldn’t be enjoyable to be honest.”
