‘Not even for the great Man United’ – Manager expected to snub even ‘triple’ his wages

As Manchester United’s hunt for a new manager is accompanied by a series of difficulties, some of those obstacles are well described today by Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.

With a story claiming that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is one of the top candidates to the job, they also point out the reasons why the coach isn’t that keen on moving to England so soon.

It’s said that with the success and promising development that the manager has been having in Amsterdam, he’s already indicated to his superiors Edwin van der Sar and Marc Overmars that he’s not just leaving the club at all costs in the middle of the season.

‘Not even for the great Manchester United’, De Telegraaf writes, who could even ‘triple’ his wages.

The report claims ten Hag is on a shortlist which includes the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers. And the harder it gets for the Red Devils to sign any of those three, then it’s more likely they’d go for the Dutchman.

De Telegraaf even say Old Trafford has become a ‘coaches graveyard’ since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, as David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, José Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all had their reputations damaged at the club.

Now despite all the negative factors, the outlet also says that any sensible manager would listen to what Manchester United have to offer.

Ajax know Ten Hag may leave in the summer, as there’ll be only one year left on his contract, so the Old Trafford side would have bigger chances if waiting until the end of the season while with an interim coach in charge.
