James Van Der Beek revealed his wife Kimberly has given birth to their sixth child after experiencing two heartbreaking late-term pregnancy losses.
The Dawson’s Creek star shared adorable photos of their new baby Jeremiah, mum Kimberly and the rest of their children.
Next to the Instagram post, he proudly shared: “Humbled and overjoyed to announce the safe, happy arrival of Jeremiah Van Der Beek (We’ve been calling him Remi, btw – not ‘dinosaur’).”
James revealed the family’s tragic losses, as he explained: “After experiencing late-term #pregnancyloss twice in a row (both at 17+ weeks), we kept this one quiet. Truthfully, I was terrified when I found out.”

The actor added: “But we found a doctor here in Texas who diagnosed the last two as having been caused by an: “incompetent cervix” (I asked him what kind of misogynistic old dude invented that term and he laughed – which made me like him even more. Now it’s called a #WeakenedCervix).”
In one of the photos, James is pictured asleep holding onto his new son Remi. His children, Olivia 11, and Annabel, 7, are also pictured lovingly cradling their new baby brother.
Well wishers flocked to the comments section to send their love. One friend of the fmaily wrote: “Beautiful. Can’t wait to meet him! Love you guys!!”
Another friend excitedly added: “OVERJOYED and CANNOT WAIT TO MEET DINOSAUR VDB!!!!”
After the family’s traumatic experience, a fan congratulated Kimberly. She wrote: “so thrilled for you all! He’s just beautiful! Well done @vanderkimberly.”
In the post, James also shared some help for those who may suffer similar experiences during their pregnancy.
He wrote: “A simple surgical cerclage was done, removed at full-term, @vanderkimberly gave birth naturally on the ranch… and here we are.
“The medical books say to only look at a cerclage as an option after three late-term losses. Our doctor recommends considering it after one. Spread the word.”
He finished sharing the good news by simply writing: “Life is Beautiful.”
